Greece·August 8 - 11 2021
Are you in for more adventure following the KILROY Impact Challenge? Join our Greek island extension! When you think of the Greek islands, the first thing that comes to mind are the whitewashed houses, sandy beaches, crystal clear waters, and Mediterranean cuisine - who doesn’t want to get away from all the noise to soak up some sun and sea? Embark on a 4 day, 3 night adventure on Agistri Island, a hiking paradise renowned for its pristine beaches, azure coves, traditional cuisine, and friendly locals. Agistri is the perfect destination to immerse in nature, discovering new natural wonders both on land and at sea each day while encountering traditional Greek island life.
Rise and shine (or maybe sleep in) after your night of celebrations with other Interrail Impact Challenge friends. Today you will bid farewell to those not extending their stay in Greece. The day is yours to relax or get out there and explore more of what the bustling city of Athens has to offer!
Head towards the Port to board a small ferry that connects all the islands of the Argosaronic gulf. Your final destination is a jewel of the gulf, the island of Agistri. On arrival you will check into your accommodation, leave your bags and have some free time to explore or relax on one of the pristine beaches nearby. Later in the day, you will depart for a sea kayaking adventure to get the opportunity to take in some of the views of the islands horizon. You will spend a few hours navigating the coastline and and enjoy the magnificent sunset at sea with the mountains of Peloponese fading in the background.
After a delicious breakfast, you will depart for a hike to Aponisos Beach, one of the most beautiful and isolated beaches on the island. This seaside oasis offers a unique combination of colors that remind you of far away destinations. You will spend the majority of the day enjoying Aponisos, basking in the sun or enjoying water activities nearby.
Enjoy a final breakfast before departing for a spectacular day on traditional wooden yacht tour around the island. You'll have the chance to explore more hidden beaches scattered around the coast while taking breaks to enjoy the sea and get a glimpse of life below the surface while scuba diving. In the afternoon you will enjoy a family style BBQ before transferring back to the port in the evening and departing to Athens via ferry.
The island cruise will be done on a 14mt wooden yacht named Astrolavos. Astrolavos was built in 1965 in one of the oldest shipyards in Perama by one of the most famous Greek ship builders - Manolis Psarros. Psarros' contribution to the development and preservation of the wooden boatbuilding tradition is enormous and highly regarded to this day.

All the big ticket items are included in the extension package.
While all activities and transfers are included in the package, there are a few things you will still be responsible for paying for during the extension.
The extension starts on August 8th, the day after your final party commences in Athens. August 8th you will have a full free day in Athens to relax, sightsee and explore on your own. On August 9th you will meet your extension guide at the Monastriaki Metro Station to transfer to Piraeus port.
The extension ends in the afternoon of August 11th, when you arrive back to the Athens ferry port. From here you can easily transfer back to the city via public transport or to the airport or train station.
After the extension ends at the port in Athens on the evening of August 11th, you have several options on how you would like to continue on with your travels. You can choose to return home, via flight or Interrail (we can help arrange a transfer to the airport - just ask!), You can add on a few additional days in Athens or surrounding areas, or you can continue onward to a brand new destination via train, bus, ferry, flight or private transfer.
We are here to help if you need assistance with any of the above arrangements.
Yes! When we put together this extension we made sure to build in some free time into the itinerary so you can add in additional tours, activities, or chill time!
We require a minimum of 8 people to run the extension. If we do not meet this minimum, we will cancel the extension and refund those who registered in full.
