Trip Extension

Bid farewell to all of your new friends as you depart back to your home country after an adventure of a lifetime or choose to add-on the Istanbul City Extension & Cappadocia Adventure following your trip! Day 1 - Istanbul

Rise and shine (or maybe sleep in) after your night of celebrations with other Interrail Impact Challenge friends. Today you will bid farewell to those not extending their stay in Turkey. Day 2 - Istanbul

Spend an evening dining with a modern-day Turkish family whose genuine sense of hospitality is known world-wide. Walk through the historical Sultanahmet streets among picturesque wooden-houses and call in on a Turkish tea house where you can play backgammon and smoke Nargile (Turkish water pipe) with the locals.

In the evening you will make your way to the bus station where you will board a comfortable overnight to Cappadocia.

Yes! Anyone who participated in the Interrail Impact Challenge is eligible to add on the extension following the final party. You will only travel with other Interrail Impact Challenge competitors on the extension - it is a private tour for your group.

Great question! The reason there are only two nights of accommodation outlined in the extension itinerary is because two of the nights you will be on overnight bus transfers. On the first and third night, you will be accommodated at a comfortable hostel, however, on the second and fourth night you will be transferring to or from Istanbul and Cappadocia.

While the transfer is long between Istanbul and Cappadocia, the overnight bus really is the best way to maximize your time in both locations. Instead of losing an entire day in a destination, you can board the bus in the evening and arrive to your destination the next morning, rested and ready to stretch your legs and explore!

The buses used on this transfer are very comfortable coach buses with reclining seats and bathrooms on board.

All the big ticket items are included in the extension package. This includes the Foodie Tour in Istanbul, overnight  transfers from Istanbul to Cappadocia and back, two nights of accommodation, and two full day tours in Cappadocia visiting all the major sites. Meals outlined in your itinerary are also included.

While all activities and transfers are included in the package, there are a few things you will still be responsible for paying for during the extension.

  • Transfers from Istanbul to the bus station and from Cappadocia to the bus station for your overnight transfers are not included. You can however, walk or use cheap public transportation to reach these departure destinations.
  • Meals not outlined in the itinerary are your own responsibility. Drinks on your full day Cappadocia tours are also not included in the package, but can be purchased cheaply during the tours.
  • Any personal expenses like souvenirs, additional activities, snacks and/or tips to your guides are not included in the program fee.

The extension starts on August 8th, the day after your final party commences in Istanbul.

The extension ends on the morning of August 18th, when you arrive back in Istanbul from your days in Cappadocia. Once you arrive back at the central bus terminal the tour has ended.

After the extension ends at the central bus terminal in Istanbul on August 18th,  you have several options on how you would like to continue on with your travels. You can choose to return home, via flight or Interrail (we can help arrange a transfer to the airport - just ask!), You can add on a few additional days in Istanbul or surrounding areas, or you can continue onward to a brand new destination via train, bus, flight or private transfer.

We are here to help if you need assistance with any of the above arrangements.

Yes! When we put together this extension we made sure to build in some free time into the itinerary so you can add in additional tours, activities, or chill time!

Whether you want to spend a few hours searching for the best baklava in the capital or add on an infamous hot air balloon ride in Cappadocia - we have left some time for you to do so!

We require a minimum of 2 people to run the extension. If we do not meet this minimum, we will cancel the extension and refund those who did register in full.
